Zhurova criticizes sanctions.

Olympic champion Svetlana Zhurova was outraged by the conditions of admission of Russian athletes to international competitions. In particular, the State Duma deputy called the ban on the national symbols of the aggressor country and the demand to condemn the war in Ukraine at the 2024 Games illegal.

Zhurova said this in an interview with Sport24. The former speed skater, who won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, Italy, admitted that she would be watching the 2024 Olympics in Paris and opposed the boycott of the competition in Russia.

Russia is isolated from world sport.

"I will watch the Olympics in Paris. Of course, not all sports and not all stages. But I will definitely watch the men's 100 meters! It is almost the main discipline at the Summer Olympics. I will also watch the basketball final with pleasure. You shouldn't mix them up. It's true that we are not allowed to participate in the Olympics absolutely illegally. But great athletes from other countries are not to blame. There is no need to call for not watching the Games at all," Zhurova said.
