The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has once again accused international federations of politicizing sports and discriminating on the basis of nationality. The ministry also stated that most countries of the world allegedly fully support the return of representatives of aggressors to competitions.

This is stated in the reply of the Foreign Ministry to the request of the so-called journalists of the R-Sport propaganda news agency. The ministry added that spectators suffer from the absence of Russian athletes at competitions, and double standards are applied in world sport.

Lavrov met with Iranian Foreign Minister

"The vast majority of member countries of the international Olympic movement support the return of our country to world sport and do not go along with a group of Russophobe-minded states that are ready for anything, up to and including blackmail in the form of boycotts of sport competitions, as a result of which both athletes and spectators will suffer. The topic of sports is not an exception, it is actively used as a tool to introduce double standards in relation to our country," reads the statement of the Foreign Ministry.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Weightlifting Federation (RWF) Maxim Agapitov cynically said that the Russian Federation does not "dance on the bones of opponents," commenting on the possible exclusion of Ukrainian weightlifters from the 2024 Olympics.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine issued an order to boycott the competitions, where athletes from Russia and Belarus will take part, after the IOC published the conditions of admission to the tournaments representatives of the aggressor countries.
