Russia calls IOC's demand to condemn war in Ukraine illegitimate
The head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, has called the criteria for the admission of athletes from the aggressor country to international competitions "unacceptable and illegitimate". He also demanded that "political clauses" condemning the war in Ukraine be excluded from the conditions.
Pozdnyakov said this in a commentary to the propaganda news agency R-Sport. He accused the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of harming Russian sport and added that his organisation was continuing negotiations with IOC officials.

"We are continuing our dialogue with our colleagues from Lausanne. We are trying to convey to them our position that the recommendations and approaches they are demonstrating are unacceptable and illegitimate. Of course, they harm the Olympic movement not only in Russia but also in the world as a whole. The guidelines themselves, which are publicly available on the IOC website and are a system for the admission of Russian athletes in neutral status to international competitions, contain obvious political clauses that do not allow us to move forward. These political requirements should be excluded," Pozdnyakov said.
