"Ratty act": Russia accuses Ukraine of suspending the Olympic champion
Russian so-called journalists have accused Ukraine of preventing Olympic wrestling champion Abdulrashid Sadulayev from attending the 2024 Olympic qualifying tournament in Baku. The media of the aggressor country also complained that sanctions against their compatriot "were adopted instantly."
This is stated in an article by the editorial board of the Sport24 portal under the headline "Due to the ratty act of Ukrainians, the Olympics were deprived of a living legend. Russian Tank will not be able to win the 3rd gold medal of the Games". The authors accused International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach of collusion with the Ukrainians, as he allegedly stated in a conversation with Kremlin-controlled pranksters.
"A few days ago, the head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, admitted that they had asked the Ukrainians to help them filter out Russian athletes. And now, Sadulayev's ban is a "merit" of the Ukrainian side alone. Among the complaints that Ukrainians write about are likes with posts of banned symbols, participation in the "wrong" tournaments and visits to the "wrong" places. After listing all this, the Ukrainians asked to "take all possible measures to prevent it" - as we can see, the measures were taken instantly," the publication whined.
It should be noted that Sadulayev participated in a rally in Luzhniki in support of the war against Ukraine in March 2022. Earlier, he was not allowed to enter Romania for the European Championships, having been turned back at the Bucharest airport. Border guards questioned the authenticity of the wrestler's Schengen visa.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the head of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili attacked the IOC, calling the organization "a bunch of sectarians, scoundrels, fraudsters."
