The owner of the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt, Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), expressed his respect for Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) before the fight on May 18. The Gypsy King, as the Briton is called, recalled the Ukrainian's remarkable career and noted that he was preparing for the upcoming fight very seriously.
Fury said this in an interview with Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions YouTube channel. According to Tyson, he was impressed by Oleksandr's fights against Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs), in which our compatriot proved his ability to fight against the strongest heavyweights.

"Oleksandr Usyk is a really scary person. Only a fool can underestimate Usyk. That's why I'm training hard. I respect Usyk as a person. I also respect his career – he's an Olympic champion, absolute heavyweight champion, unified heavyweight champion. You have to respect that. I'm looking forward to this challenge. He has good footwork, and good boxing skills, he is technically strong. He's proven he can fight big heavyweights because he beat Joshua and Dubois. I'm dealing with an elite fighter," Fury said.
