Swedish athlete Arman Duplantis broke his own world record in the pole vault at the first stage of the Diamond League season in Semenya, China. On his first attempt, the 24-year-old athlete cleared 6.24 meters, becoming the first person on the planet to reach this height.

In Semenya, Arman started his performance with 5.62, easily overcoming this barrier from the first jump. The Swedish athlete also easily conquered the bar of 5:82, and then 6:00. As the winner of the stage, Duplantis jumped 6:24.
Duplantis set the previous world record (6.23m) in September 2023. He holds nine of the top ten best pole vaults in history.

Duplantis set his first record in September 2020 at the sixth stage of the Diamond League. The then 20-year-old 2018 European champion cleared the bar at a height of 6.15 meters at the stadium in Rome.

This jump allowed Duplantis to beat the achievement of Ukrainian Serhiy Bubka, which stood for 26 years and was called an "eternal record". In 1994, Bubka jumped 6.14 meters. After that, the Swede was called the "new Bubka".
In 2020, Duplantis broke Bubka's record.
Commenting on the success of the Swedish athlete, Sergiy Nazarovych said that he was "happy for him and his family, as well as for athletics and sports in general."
