Khryunov speaks about the fight between Usyk and Fury

Russian promoter Vladimir Khryunov expressed an absurd opinion that the fight between Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) was set up. According to him, "many details were noticed" that allegedly point to such a development.

Khryunov said this in an interview with the propaganda TV channel Match TV. The former promoter of Alexander Povetkin tried to downplay the Ukrainian boxer's great success, noting that everything was done to increase his earnings and to hold the third fight between Usyk and Fury.

"This is one of the outstanding fights in the heavyweight division, but there were many details that sold the rematch. Someone didn't finish someone off, someone allowed themselves too much emotion. I am friends with Tyson Fury, and he had elements of gypsyism. But we should congratulate boxing fans that an absolute world champion has appeared in the heavyweight division. What I would do as a promoter is to have Fury win the rematch, have our respected sheikh sit down and say: "Let's have a third fight". And the result would be a trilogy. And the fighters' fees would go up," Khryunov said.

Fury has already decided on a rematch. However, the title of absolute world champion will not be at stake, as Usyk will be stripped of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt by June 1. This decision angered the British Tony Bellew. Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) will fight for the title.
