Five years ago, on May 12, 2108, Vasyl Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KOs), the WBO light-middleweight champion, defeated Jorge Linares (44-4, 27 KOs) of Venezuela. The 30-year-old Ukrainian won the World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight championship belt and the world title according to The Ring magazine.

The fight took place at the main arena of Madison Square Garden in New York and was not going well for our compatriot.
Unexpectedly, 30 seconds before the end of the 6th round, Lomachenko lost concentration for a second and suffered a counter-punch to the chin, and was knocked out. It turned the fight upside down, gave the boxer from Venezuela more moral strength and he went on the attack from the first seconds of the 7th round.
