World famous American trainer Teddy Atlas criticized the referee of the fight between Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 ÊÎ) and Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KO), which the Ukrainian controversially lost. The former mentor of legendary Mike Tyson disagreed with the decision of Dave Moretti, who gave the American eight rounds out of 12.

Atlas said it in his comments to Boxing Scene. He was outraged that Moretti had given in favor of Haynie in the 10th round and demanded that the Nevada State Athletic Commission begin checks on the referee, who is required to explain his position on the counting.

"I think I can live with two scores of 115-113, but not 116-112 by any means. Someone told me that Dave Moretti gave the 10th round to Haney, if that's true, then he needs to go before the commission for an explanation. If the Nevada commission doesn't call Moretti and get him to explain why he gave the 10th round to Haney, then we need to petition for their dissolution. I need to make sure that the Nevada commission is run by taxpayer money, and if so, then the citizens really need to come forward with demands," Atlas said.

Note that the referee's notes, which were published after the fight, caused a heated debate among experts and fans. Lomachenko's team announced that they are filing a protest against the result of the fight. In addition, the fight's punching stats confirm that the Ukrainian won at least five rounds.
