"It's not a leak": ex-world champion slams Haney for his words about Lomachenko

Former world champion in two weight categories Paul Malignaggi called on fans and experts to treat Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) with respect. The American, who beat Vyacheslav Senchenko in 2012 at the Donbass Arena, noted that our compatriot agreed to all the conditions for the fight with Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs).

Malignaggi said this in an interview with ProBox TV, Boxing News 24 reports. He also accused Haney of lying - a few years ago, the young American said that Lomachenko was allegedly avoiding a fight against him, although the Ukrainian was preparing to fight Teofimo Lopez for the title of absolute lightweight champion of the world.

"Look, we should be grateful to Lomachenko for not bargaining. We haven't heard him put forward any conditions regarding weight. This is what makes Lomachenko dangerous. The fact that he didn't ask for anything. I heard that Haney wanted more money. And they gave it to him. It's an obvious fact that two years ago Haney had no chance of a title fight. Back then he was lying to everyone that Lomachenko was avoiding a fight with him. But all Loma was doing was fighting Lopez for the world title. When you go for a more dangerous fight, it's not a leak," said Malignaggi.
