"He proved it": boxing legend from Russia speaks about Usyk's victory over Dubois
The legendary Russian boxer Konstantin Tszyu has named Ukrainian unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) as the strongest representative of his division. According to the former welterweight belt holder, the Ukrainian has proved his class by defeating Daniel Dubois (19-2, 18 KOs).
Ju said this in a comment to Gazeta.Ru. The former boxer added that it's too early to talk about Usyk's confrontation with British Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs), as the contract for the fight has not yet been signed, and the Gypsy King himself is still waiting for a freak fight against MMA fighter Francis Ngannou.
"Politics doesn't matter at all, Usyk is a very good boxer. The fight against Tyson Fury? There's no point in talking about Fury until it happens. At the moment, Usyk is the strongest heavyweight on the planet, he has proved it," said Ju.
Usyk was unable to contain his emotions during the press conference after he was accused of wearing his shorts too high. It is worth noting that Vasyl Lomachenko also commented on the outcome of the Usyk-Dubois fight, but he did so in a very laconic manner and in Russian.
Russian boxer Dmitry Kudryashov ridiculed the Briton for refusing to continue the fight with the Ukrainian. He also added that Usyk should thank the referee for his success. Russian promoter Vladimir Khryunov called Alexander a coward after the fight.
Daniel Dubois was suspended from boxing after his defeat by Oleksandr Usyk. Kateryna Usyk's reaction to the British boxer's blows was also published online. The media also deciphered what the Ukrainian said to the Briton after the fight.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the World Boxing Association (WBA) has issued a statement regarding the scandal in the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois. A similar step was taken by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
