Lomachenko and Haney fought on May 20
Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) failed to win the world title for the second time in his career. Our compatriot lost by unanimous decision to American Dvin Haney (30-0, 16 KOs).
The fight lasted 12 rounds. The fight was very close and until the final bell the fans could not guess who would be the winner.
In the end, the judges' notes decided everything. In spite of the dominance of the Ukrainian in the last rounds they unanimously gave the victory to Haney - 116:112, 115:113, 115:113.
It is interesting, that one of the judges almost completely gave the second half of the fight to the American. However, his colleagues were less categorical.
Note that for Lomachenko this is the third defeat in his career. Earlier he lost to Mexican Orlando Cilido and American Teofimo Lopez.
