"Fundamental decision": it became known why Ukraine refused to broadcast Lomachenko's fight
The Megogo video platform refused to broadcast the fight between Vasyl Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) and Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) on principle. The company noted that it did not issue an official release about this decision because it did not want to focus on the sporting event.
Megogo stated this in a comment to the YouTube channel "Tike Myson". The video platform, which has always broadcast shows organised by the Top Rank promotion company, stressed that the cancellation of the fight should not resonate in the information space.
"We deliberately chose this type of communication to avoid focusing on the event. We believe that this topic should not be loudly raised in the information space. When there is a full-scale war in the country, there are more important messages. The refusal to show this fight is a fundamental decision of the sports editorial team of the media service. Every message, response or comment on the official pages of the Megogo media service on social media is the official position of the company, which is seen by everyone and often quoted by the media. It happened this time and it's not the first time," the company said in a statement.
We would like to remind you that Megogo's decision to refuse to broadcast the Lomachenko-Haney fight caused a strong reaction among Ukrainian boxing fans. The fight will be available on ESPN+. It also became known how much the Ukrainian will earn for the fight.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Devin Haney promised to take Vasyl Lomachenko apart. He demanded that experts and fans not talk about the age of Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko.
Lomachenko himself said that he would no longer be able to move up to a heavier weight category. The Ukrainian also called himself undefeated, despite two defeats in the professional ring. Haney called these words of Vasyl's nonsense.
