Dubois team appeals the result of the fight with Usyk

The British are convinced their boxer has had his victory stolen

Daniel Dubois (19-2, 18 KOs) promoter Frank Warren was very dissatisfied with the result of his client's fight against Oleksandr Usyk. Warren believes that the victory was stolen and is going to appeal the outcome of the fight.

The promoter said that he did not see a punch below the belt in an interview with the British media.

"He got cheated, that was a belt punch. He worked on the body because we knew that was Usyk's weak spot. It wasn't a below the belt punch. I wish they could show it now [on screen] and we could all see it. They didn't take a single point off him. The referee made a big mistake," Vringe translated Warren's interview.

The promoter noted that he likes Usyk, likes Ukrainians and Ukraine, but it was a "hometown decision".

"Daniel won because Usyk was in no condition to continue the fight and he was given a few minutes to recover from a legal punch," he said.

Warren then didn't hold back and issued that the result was "horse shit." He believes the governing bodies "will have to consider an appeal" and schedule a rematch.

"We're appealing what happened here. It's a freedom. It's all about a legal punch that stopped him [Usyk] and Dubois should have won. I'm sure there will be a rematch decision," Warren concluded.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Ukrainian WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 13 KOs) defeated Daniel Dubois (19-2, 18 KOs) early. The denouement came in the 9th round when the Briton missed a heavy blow to the head.
