"Almost every round": Joshua's promoter gives up on Lomachenko in fight with Haney
Absolute world lightweight champion Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) will have no trouble dealing with Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) and defend his titles. The American boxer is at the peak of his powers, while the career of our compatriot is nearing its end.
This opinion was expressed by Eddie Hearn, the promoter of British heavyweight Anthony Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs), in an interview with ID Boxing YouTube channel. According to him, Haynie should take almost every round in the fight that will take place in Las Vegas, USA, on May 20.
"I think Haney will win almost every round. Lomachenko is already going west. I always believed Devin could beat him. We tried to arrange this fight three years ago when Loma was in his prime, so I think he'll win easily. Lomachenko will be looking to regain the belts he lost to Teofimo Lopez in 2020. I think Haynie will then move up in weight," said Hearn.
At the press conference before the fight, Haney treated Lomachenko with disdain during a duel of looks. Also, the American boxer did not shake hands with our boxer. In addition, Devin promised to take the Ukrainian to pieces. He demanded that experts and fans not talk about Vasyl's age.
Earlier, Lomachenko said that he would no longer be able to move up to a heavier weight category. The Ukrainian also called himself undefeated, despite two defeats in the professional ring. Haynie called these words of Vasyl's nonsense.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, former absolute world lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez gave an unequivocal prediction for the Lomachenko-Haney fight. Devin himself predicted that the Ukrainian would fight him dirty.
