The owner of the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt, Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), expressed confidence that he would beat Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) even without proper training. According to the Gypsy King, as the Manchester native is called, the Ukrainian doesn't look very convincing in the heavyweight division.

Fury said this during a press conference on April 10, ESPN reports. Tyson recalled Usyk's fight against Dereck Chisora (34-13, 23 KOs), which was only the second for the Ukrainian in the division, and added that he was in great shape before the fight on May 18.

"I think if I hadn't prepared for this camp at all, I would have come with a weight of 160 kilograms and drunk 8.5 liters of beer beforehand, and the next day I would have gone to the ring against him... What would he have done? Not to belittle his merits, but Usyk couldn't do anything to Chisora. That fight was 50/50 (the Ukrainian won in October 2020 by a unanimous decision of the judges - ed.) Now I'm training hard and I'm in fantastic shape. There is no room for error," Fury said.

At the press conference in Morkama, Tyson also revealed his attitude towards Oleksandr and spoke about the disruption of the fight on February 17.

Earlier, WBC head Mauricio Sulaiman came up with the idea of approving six judges at once, rather than three, to score the fight between Usyk and Fury. He predicted a catastrophe in the fight if his proposal was not supported, and also announced a radical decision regarding the fight.

Before that, Tyson mentioned the war in Ukraine. In turn, Oleksandr told what he would do if the Briton refused to enter the ring on May 18.

Earlier, two moles were found in Fury's team, and it also became known that the former Russian champion would return to the ring at a boxing event in Saudi Arabia. Also, British bookmakers changed their quotes for the fight and stopped considering their compatriot a favorite.

In turn, the former world champion Carl Froch in the second middleweight division questioned the holding of the Usyk-Fury fight. It became known what advice Volodymyr Klychko gave to Oleksandr. Also, the USSR champion Yuriy Arbachakov expressed confidence that the Ukrainian would have to take risks in the fight.
