Famous French track and field athlete Alice Finot provoked a heated discussion on the Internet after she proposed to her boyfriend at the 2024 Olympics. The 33-year-old finished 4th in the 3000km steeplechase (8.52.76), breaking the European record held since 2008 (the medalists were Bahrain, Uganda and Kenya).

After her performance, Fino ran up to the stands where her young man, triathlete Bruno Martinez Bargela, whom she had been dating for nine years, was in the stands. Instead of a diamond ring, the runner used an Olympic pin that read "Love in Paris," which she pinned to Bargela's shirt, sealing the engagement with a kiss.

Talking to reporters after the race Fino confirmed that Bargela said "yes", reports Daily Mail.

"I told myself that if I run under nine minutes, knowing that nine is my lucky number and that we have been together for nine years, I will propose. I don't like doing something like everyone else. Since he hasn't done it yet, I told myself that maybe I should do it," the track and field athlete said.

Fino also said that Bargela "always gives me strength," including during the 2024 Olympics.

"I was really excited, I was able to express myself," commented the athlete.

As for her fourth place, she admitted that she "doesn't regret anything despite falling just a little short of the award."

The video of the moment of confession gathered about 8 million views on social networks and caused a hail of comments.

"This is terrible", "What a shame", "Women turn into men, men into women, and you are still shocked by this? Do you still believe that the world has not turned over enough," wrote the users.
