During the ceremonial meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the occasion of Constitution Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky presented high state awards to soldiers who courageously and selflessly defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. The President conferred the title of Hero of Ukraine on 12 defenders of our country.

Ten soldiers were given the highest state title posthumously. Also on this day, Zelensky awarded the "Cross of Military Merit" to indomitable Ukrainian soldiers: among the awardees was one woman defender.

By decrees of the President of Ukraine for personal courage and heroism shown in defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order "Golden Star" was awarded:

- Bloha Yuriy Ihorovych, junior lieutenant (posthumously)

- Korniychuk Bohdan Serhiyovych, Lieutenant (posthumously)

- Kulyk Serhii Hryhorovych, staff sergeant (posthumously)

- Labunskyi Oleksandr Mykolaiovych, Senior Sergeant (posthumously)

- Lukianovych Oleksandr Volodymyrovych, soldier (posthumously)

- Movchan Vitalii Anatoliiovych, lieutenant (posthumously)

- Otserklevych Viktor Yaroslavovych, captain (posthumously)

- Sapyl Vitalii Romanovych, Lieutenant (posthumously)

- Seniuk Oleksii Oleksandrovych, Chief Sergeant (posthumously)

- Stupak Yulian Yuriiovych, Lieutenant (posthumously).

The mothers and wives of the heroes who gave their lives in combat for Ukraine received high awards from the President.

The President also awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Golden Star by decree:

- Kovalenko Oleksandr Volodymyrovych, Lieutenant

- Yaremenko Serhiy Volodymyrovych, Colonel.

In addition, for outstanding personal services in the defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, and loyalty to the military oath , they were awarded the "Distinguished Service Cross" of the President of Ukraine:

- Kozachenko Halyna Valentynivna, senior sergeant

- Kolinko Serhii Anatoliiovych, soldier

- Krasovskyi Vasyl Mykolaiovych, Lieutenant Colonel

- Lukashevych Ivan Volodymyrovych, Colonel.

We shall remind you that earlier Zelensky congratulated Ukrainians on Constitution Day. In his welcoming speech, the head of state stressed that no one in the country needs to explain the meaning of the word "sovereignty" anymore.

The head of state is also convinced that after the start of a full-scale war, no Ukrainian will ever again perceive the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution as something given to us from above. Today we have to defend them in a hard struggle, sometimes at the cost of our lives.
