"Within the next month". A statement was made about the rematch of Usyk - Fury

The first fight ended in a split decision

The promoter of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) said that the date of the rematch between his client and absolute heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) will be announced within the next month. Frank Warren spoke with Tyson after the defeat to make sure he was okay.

"He was very disappointed, but he took the defeat philosophically. The rematch was planned before the first fight, and the date will be set within the next month. Both fighters want it and we will move on," Warren was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

Warren is confident that Fury will be able to make the necessary changes to avenge the first defeat of his career.

"I think he can do it, and he believes it himself. At some point in the fight, at the end of the seventh round, he landed some good punches to the head and Usyk was a little bit shocked, but then he went back to the corner, recovered and in the next round he hit Tyson perfectly in the nose. It knocked him off his rhythm, and we know what happened in the ninth round," the promoter said.

On May 18, in Riyadh, Usyk defeated British WBC titleholder Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) to become the first-ever absolute champion in the heavyweight division in the four-belt era.

Bookmakers have already started accepting bets on the rematch between Usyk and Fury. It is not yet known whether the Ukrainian will retain the title of absolute world heavyweight champion.

Following the first fight, the Ukrainian was suspended from boxing for medical reasons. He was hospitalized after the fight. Promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk spoke about the details of our champion's jaw injury.
