What was Daniel Radcliffe's first movie role and what did the 10-year-old actor look like then? Video.
Daniel Radcliffe is a British actor known all over the world, in particular for his role as the "surviving boy" Harry Potter in the franchise based on the book series by J.K. Rowling. The first movie about the young wizard was released in 2001, when the actor was only 12 years old.
However, this was not his first appearance on the big screen. In fact, Radcliffe made his acting debut in the television series David Copperfield. The 10-year-old boy with great ambitions won the hearts of the audience.
"David Copperfield" is a stunning semi-autobiographical story by Charles Dickens about a boy who is left by his stepfather to fend for himself after his mother's death, but manages to overcome incredible odds.
In his first project, Radcliffe starred alongside his future co-stars in the Harry Potter series: Dame Maggie Smith (Minerva McGonagall), Zoe Wanamaker (Madam Hooch), and Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge).
An interesting fact is that when Chris Columbus was asked who he saw playing the lead role in the Potter movie, he used a clip of Daniel Radcliffe from this mini-series to show the perfect candidate. Subsequently, the 12-year-old actor shone in the role of the wizard. A video of the Briton taking part in his first press conference with his colleagues Emma Watson and Rupert Grint has been posted online.
