Khatskevych expressed this opinion in an interview with Ukrainian Football, commenting on the victory of the Blue and Yellows over Iceland. The Champions League semifinalist and former coach of the Belarusian national team noted that the Ukrainian national team managed to demonstrate not only individual qualities in the Euro 2024 playoffs.

"We need to get down to earth a bit. Favorites in what? Yes, many players of the national team of Ukraine play in the top championships, but in addition to individual actions, team actions are also needed. In these two matches, the Ukrainian national team showed that even with not as good football as everyone expected (with a lot of chances and a bright game), the team has character and can rebuild in case of a negative result. It will be easier at the Euros," Khatskevych said.
