At a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington, D.C., US President Donald Trump commented on the minerals deal. Trump called the agreement to be signed today "very fair." He also did not deny that the United States would also invest in an investment fund created as a result of the deal.

"We have a very fair agreement with Ukraine. It's a great commitment on the part of the United States," Trump said during his press conference at the beginning of his meeting with Zelenskyy. In response, the Ukrainian president expressed hope that the agreement "will be a step forward for Ukraine."

Trump also clarified that the United States is going to use rare earth metals "for everything it does, including AI and weapons." "We look forward to the opportunity to start digging, digging, digging, and working to get some of the rare earth metals," Trump said, without specifying what kind of commitments the US was making.

Trump did not deny that the United States would also invest in the future fund, but did not specify what amounts or what ratio to the Ukrainian contribution was involved. "We don't know exactly how much, because we're going to put money into the fund that we're going to get from the fossil fuels. We will take and share in terms of income. So a lot of money will be earned from the sale and the use of the land," he said.

The US President noted that it is during today's meeting that the agreement on minerals will be signed. However, as it became known earlier, the document will be signed not by the heads of state themselves, but by government representatives.

On Ukraine's side, it is the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha and the Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko. On the US side, it is US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

In this "Agreement on the Fund," the details of the cooperation terms will be specified. Shmyhal described the US contribution as covering the areas of security, finance, and the economy.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, according to experts, the total value of all mineral resources in Ukraine is $14.8 trillion. At the same time, Ukraine does not have access to a significant part of its mineral resources due to Russia's temporary occupation of the territories where they are located.
