Usyk may give up the championship for Klychko's comeback - media
The unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) can help bring the legendary Volodymyr Klychko (64-5-0-1, 54 KOs) back to the ring. Our compatriot may vacate one of the titles and allow his fellow countryman to try to become the oldest belt holder in history.
This development was announced by the authoritative publication World Boxing News. According to British journalists, a situation where Usyk would give up the World Boxing Council (WBC) title for Klychko Jr. to rematch Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) does not seem impossible.
It's important to note that Daniel Dubois' (22-0, 21 KOs) victory over Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) on February 22 will pave the way for a fight between the Briton and the Ukrainian for the world title. All organizations will probably be interested in this, so Klychko will have to postpone his return.
Klychko recently broke his silence about the comeback. The situation was also clarified by Klychko's manager Tom Löfler, who noted that the athlete continues to keep himself in shape.
As a reminder, Usyk defeated Dubois by TKO in the ninth round in August 2023, and the Briton was notorious for a dirty punch below the belt. After the Ukrainian's rematch with Fury, the London-based boxer jumped into the ring and demanded a rematch from Alexander.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, manager Aegis Klimas told when Oleksandr Usyk plans to return to the ring after his victory over Tyson Fury. Artificial intelligence has already made a forecast for the Ukrainian's fight.
