Usyk fails to make it to the world's top 10 after Fury rematch: what's going on
The official record keeper for combat sports worldwide boxrec.com has ranked WBC, WBA, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) 13th in the ranking of the world's best professional boxers. Despite his victory in the rematch against the British Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs), the Ukrainian was not included in the top 10.
The manager of our heavyweight, Egis Klimas, commented on this situation quite emotionally, saying that this is not a ranking, but "the biggest BS ever seen."
At the same time, many users have noticed that BoxRec has a separate #PoundForPound section, which displays the ranking of boxers regardless of weight category, with Usyk being the first. The list above solely reflects the number of fights.
"BoxRec system is based purely on number of fights and standard of fight. Usyk hasn't has as many professional fights. Yes, it's BS, but at least it's a system," one commenter wrote.
As previously reported, on the night of Sunday, December 22, Oleksandr Usyk defeated Tyson Fury for the second time and defended his titles. The seventh fight of the Ukrainian in the super-heavyweight division ended with a victory on points - 116:112, 116:112, 116:112.
