Usyk and Fury may not determine the absolute world champion: a known condition
The International Boxing Federation (IBF) will put its belt on the line for the fight between Croatian Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) and British Daniel Dubois (20-1, 19 KOs), scheduled for June 1. This may lead to the fact that the title of absolute world heavyweight champion will not be played this year.
This will happen if Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) fail to find a winner on May 18, i.e. the judges record a draw. After that, the IBF will deprive the Ukrainian of his title, and in the rematch against the Briton, three belts will be at stake instead of four.
