Ukrainian biathlon team with a record-breaking result at the Biathlon World Cup
Two female biathletes of the Ukrainian national team were among the top 12 participants in the pursuit race at the 3rd stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Lenzehaid, Switzerland. Anastasia Merkushyna took 10th place and Iryna Petrenko finished 12th. There were three Ukrainian women in the top 20 (Yulia Dzhima was 18th). Our fourth compatriot, Khrystyna Dmytrenko, finished in 29th place.
For the first time in the current Biathlon World Cup, Ukraine managed to reach the top 10 in individual events, setting a season record.
The victory was won by Frenchwoman Justine Breza-Boucher. Her compatriot Julie Simon came in second. The third place was taken by. Marit Ishol Skogan (Norway).
Petrenko and Jima could have taken higher places, but the girls' accuracy let them down at the last shot.
