Ukraine has set a historic record in the ranking of the best tennis players in the world
Ukrainian tennis players have set a national record in the world rankings thanks to their enchanting performance at the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open. For the first time in history, five representatives of our country have reached the top 35 on the planet and share second place with the Czech Republic.
Elina Svitolina remains Ukraine's top-ranked player, having reached the fourth round of the Melbourne tennis tournament, she has risen four positions to rank 19th in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. Marta Kostiuk moved up to 28th place after participating in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
Diana Yastremska showed the greatest progress. The 23-year-old from Odesa reached the semifinals of the Australian Open-2024 and soared 64 positions in the ranking. She is now ranked 29th in the world.
Lesia Tsurenko and Angelina Kalinina are ranked 31st and 32nd, respectively. The Czech Republic is also represented in the top 35 with five tennis players. Only the so-called neutral athletes from Russia are more numerous. It should be noted that Iga Szwiątek from Poland continues to lead the WTA rankings.
