Morocco and Argentina open the Olympic tournament
Argentina's Olympic football team snatched a 2-2 draw against Morocco in the 16th minute of added time. The match between Ukraine's rivals in Group B provoked a violent scandal on social media.
UPD. Two hours after the end of the match, it became known that the referee did not count the Argentine goal due to offside by Christian Medina, but it was not possible to continue the match due to the fans who ran out. The match resumed at 20:00 Kyiv time. The teams played for three minutes.
The final score was 2-1 in favor of Morocco.
The match started poorly for the Argentines, who could not do anything in the attack and scored the first shot on goal only after an hour of playing time. Just before the break, Morocco scored its first goal through the efforts of Soufiane Raimi, opening the scoring
In the fifth minute, Raimi made a double, realizing an 11-meter penalty, which was awarded for a foul by Argentina in their penalty area.
Substitute Giuliano Simeone reduced the deficit in the 68th minute.
Despite the fact that there were not many stoppages in the game, Swedish referee Glen Nyberg added 16 minutes, which was enough for the Americans to push the ball into the opponent's goal.
After that, angry Moroccan fans broke through the stewards' cordons and ran onto the field. Firecrackers flew at the Argentine players, and real chaos broke out in the arena.
