"There must be an excuse": world champion criticizes Lomachenko for keeping silent about Russian aggression

Ukrainian boxer Serhii Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs), who recently won the interim middleweight championship belt, criticized Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) for his silence about the war in our country. The 28-year-old native of Vinnytsia noted that he would be interested to hear what his compatriot has to say in his defense.

Bohachuk said this in an interview with sport-express.ua. According to the boxer, Lomachenko, on the eve of his fight with George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs) in Australia, had to remind the world of the military aggression that Russia continues to carry out against his home country.

"He was a champion, he did a lot for Ukraine as a famous athlete. Now I don't know what's in his head either. It's very bad that he doesn't say anything about Ukraine, the war, and the current situation. I am interested to hear what his position is on this issue. You know, he must have some kind of justification for this. He must give some facts as to why he is silent and does not say anything. I have not heard this from him. So I would rather listen than talk," Bohachuk said.

Earlier, Lomachenko did not call Russia the aggressor and said that it was difficult for him to explain the situation. In addition, the Ukrainian recalled how the war began for him, and later refused to condemn Putin and his decision to send troops to Ukraine.

The boxer also expressed confidence that many Russians do not support the war, noting that he sees no point in appealing to the Kremlin leader, whom he called the commander-in-chief.
