"The whole world knows about it": Hvozdyk assesses the result of the Usyk – Fury rematch
Former world light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Hvozdyk (20-2, 16 KOs) called Oleksandr Usyk's (23-0, 14 KOs) victory over Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) a convincing one. The 37-year-old native of Kharkiv noted that the second fight was more equal than the first, but ended in a fair result.
Gvozdyk expressed this opinion in an interview with sport-express.ua. Our compatriot put Usyk's triumph against Fury at the top of the list of Ukraine's major sporting victories in 2024 and added that Oleksandr proved his high class.
"The first place for me is definitely Usyk's victory over Fury. The whole world knows about it, so it's hard to beat this achievement. While the first fight had surprises on both sides, the rematch was expected. Sasha just did his job and won a confident victory. The rematch was more equal, and tense, but Usyk won without question," Hvozdyk said.
As a reminder, Usyk vs. Fury 2 ended with the Ukrainian boxer winning a unanimous decision with a score of 116-112 three times.
