The smartphone that changed the world: what the very first iPhone looked like. Features and photos
The iPhone, introduced by Apple in 2007, has become not just a phone, but a true symbol of a technological revolution that has dramatically changed the way we live, communicate and interact with the digital world. From a simple device for making calls to a powerful multifunctional computer in your pocket, the iPhone has come a long way.
Before the iPhone, mobile phones were primarily used for voice communication, text messaging, and, at best, basic web surfing. The idea of combining a phone, music player, camera, and pocket computer into one device seemed like a fantasy. People were forced to carry around several separate gadgets for different needs.
The advent of the iPhone: a game changer
On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs, the legendary founder of Apple, unveiled a device that was to define the future of mobile communications - the first iPhone - at Macworld in San Francisco. This small but powerful gadget combined the functionality of an iPod, a mobile phone, and an Internet communicator. Its touch screen, innovative at the time, allowed users to control the device with simple gestures, which was a real breakthrough.
"The iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone," Steve Jobs said at the time. And he was right.
What made the iPhone so special:
The intuitive interface: The touch screen and simple gestures made using a smartphone accessible to everyone.
App Store: Subsequently, the App Store appeared (2008), which opened the door for developers, allowing them to create millions of applications for the iPhone, turning it into a universal tool.
Camera: Although the first iPhone camera was quite modest, it laid the foundation for the further development of mobile photography.
Integration with other Apple products: The iPhone has become an integral part of the Apple ecosystem, working seamlessly with Macs, iPads, and other devices.
The iPhone's elegant design and intuitive interface set the standard for modern smartphones. Continuous innovations in hardware and software continue to shape the ever-evolving digital world.
iPhone 2007: the beginning of the touchscreen era
The first iPhone, introduced in 2007, cost $499 (21 thousand UAH) for a 4 GB model and $599 (25 thousand UAH) for an 8 GB model. It had a 3.5-inch display, a 2-megapixel camera, and a revolutionary multi-touch interface that combined an iPod, a phone, and an Internet communicator.
On June 29, 2007, the gadget was launched and gained immense popularity. For the first time, users could access their email and contacts on the go, not to mention take photos, browse the web, and navigate the city with maps.
Here's how Jobs described it: "The iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone... We are all born with the best pointing device - our fingers - and the iPhone uses them to create the most revolutionary user interface since the mouse."
Thousands of people queued outside Apple stores to get their hands on the coveted new iPhone device. It didn't yet have photo sharing or messaging capabilities, nor did it have Siri, an assistant, or an alternative color or design choice.
It was a rather chunky and simple device, but the iPhone had the most advanced features of the time.
