The rematch between Usyk and Fury may change the rules of boxing

Suleiman spoke about the rematch between Usyk and Fury

World Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman insists that the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 11 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) should be judged by six people, not three, as is customary. According to the official, this will allow to determine the winner of the fight more accurately.

Suleiman said this when answering questions from journalists, Mirror reports. According to him, the first confrontation between Usyk and Fury, where everything was decided in one round, demonstrated the disadvantages of the current system of scoring on judges' cards. The WBC head called on promoters and organizations to revise the boxing rules.

"It was an even fight. But if Judge Metcalfe had given the 11th round to Usyk instead of Fury, it would have been a unanimous decision in favor of Usyk. And if Judge Fitzgerald had given that round to Fury, he would have won the fight. You can see how equal the fight was. The judges' notes caused a discussion, but I believe that Usyk's victory by split decision is more than fair and acceptable. But our position is to always have the best opportunity to avoid disagreements, and that's why we need six judges," Suleiman said.
