The only candidate: it became known who will become the new president of the UAF instead of Pavelko
Legendary Dynamo Kyiv and AC Milan striker Andrii Shevchenko will become the new president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF). He was the only candidate who was registered for the election of the head of the organization and supported by all its regional members.
This is stated on the UAF website. It is noted that Shevchenko himself also gave his written consent to participate in the election of the association's president. According to media reports, the football legend is scheduled to arrive in Kyiv on January 10, and will represent his team before the vote on January 25.
"In all protocols, the candidacy of Andrii Shevchenko (date of birth - 29.09.1976), winner of the 2004 Golden Ball, Hero of Ukraine, awarded the National Legend of Ukraine award, was nominated for the position of UAF president.) The working group concluded that the candidacy of Andriy Shevchenko meets the requirements and criteria established by the UAF Statute for candidates for election as president of the UAF," the statement said.
As a reminder, the current UAF president, Andrii Pavelko, is accused of financial fraud and embezzlement of UEFA funds during the construction of an artificial grass plant and the purchase of products for the then Ukrainian Football Federation.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, UAF Vice President Vadym Kostyuchenko denied rumors that he intends to compete with Andrii Shevchenko in the election of the organization's head. And former national team player Roman Zozulya sharply criticized the state of affairs in the UAF.
