The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has put the interim champion's belt on the line for the fight between Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) on June 1. At the same time, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 11 KOs) remains the absolute world heavyweight champion.
This was reported by iFL TV on its page on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter. The winner of the fight between Hrgovic and Dubois can be promoted to the status of a full-fledged IBF champion if the belt is taken away from the Ukrainian.
At the same time, according to Boxing Kingdom, the IBF board voted against stripping Usyk of his belt. This means that Oleksandr's rematch with Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) will be for all four belts.
Initially, it was planned that Usyk would be stripped of his IBF title, but three reasons were given why it was beneficial for promoters and organizations to keep all the belts for the Ukrainian. On May 29, the date of the rematch between Usyk and Fury was officially announced.
Earlier, former world champion Carl Froch named the main culprit behind Tyson's defeat of Alexander. He also expressed confidence that Usyk should end his career.
Former boxer David Haye predicted that there would be no revenge between the Ukrainian and Fury. His compatriot Dereck Chisora started rumors that Alexander would return to the heavyweight division.
