The name of the richest pensioner has been revealed: who gets UAH 390 thousand per month from the Pension Fund of Ukraine

The richest pensioner in Ukraine (if we also take into account the lifetime allowance of a judge) is a retired judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Natalia Shaptala. She receives UAH 390,184 from the Pension Fund every month.

This is stated in the material of OBOZ.UA. If we compare pensions without taking into account the lifetime allowance of a retired judge, Serhii Kivalov receives the most – almost UAH 246 thousand.

If we take into account not only pensions but also the lifetime allowance of a retired judge, Natalia Shaptala, who headed the Constitutional Court of Ukraine for four months in 2019, is the luckiest. In September 2019, she resigned, and in October she began receiving a "lifetime allowance."

Initially, she was awarded a payment of 90% of the judge's salary, and then, guided by a new law, her pension was reduced to 50% of her salary. Then Shaptala went to court to demand that her high pension be returned to her. And it was her appeal to the court that helped to find her case because the registry still had data on the amount of the "pension."

Shaptala, a retired judge, receives UAH 390,184 from the Pension Fund on a monthly basis. "Given that the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons has been increased since January 1, 2020, and as a result, the amount of judicial remuneration has been increased, the court concluded that from January 1.2020, the right to recalculate the monthly lifetime allowance based on the judge's remuneration in the amount of UAH 433,538.60 arose, and until 01.01.2020 – on the judge's remuneration, which amounted to UAH 396,206.80 in accordance with the certificate of 18.09.2019 No. 16/1-345-114," the case file says.

As a result, judge of the Kyiv District Administrative Court Olesia Chudak ordered the Pension Fund to increase Shaptala's pension again, but this time to take into account the new salary. Shaptala receives the largest payment among all Ukrainians on a well-deserved vacation (including both the salary of judges and regular pensions).

As OBOZ.UA previously wrote, the 2017 reform in Ukraine reduced all future pensions by almost a third. Currently, a Ukrainian with an average salary (UAH 18.8 thousand) and full seniority can claim a pension of only UAH 4.7 thousand.
