Protsenko has completed his performances at the 2024 Olympics

Ukrainian track and field athlete Andrii Protsenko failed to make it to the finals of the high jump competition at the 2024 Olympic Games, which are currently taking place in Paris. Our compatriot dropped out of the tournament after failing to clear the bar at the first mark.

Protsenko made three attempts to jump 2 meters 15 centimeters. However, each time the 36-year-old native of Kherson caught the bar, and it did not stay upright. The Ukrainian was one of three athletes who failed to clear the first height, and he finished his performances in the French capital without a result.

In a commentary to Suspilne Sport, Protsenko noted that he failed to catch the rhythm properly. "It's very frustrating. I was ready, but I didn't manage to jump. I was unlucky with the sector, only two people jumped from my leg, and the judges didn't pay attention to it. Mostly everyone jumped from the other leg. But this is no excuse, I could jump. I really wanted to get to the final to end this season on a good note," said Andrii.

In this way, he repeated the failure of Yulia Levchenko, who also left the Olympics without a result in the girls' high jump. It should be noted that Oleg Doroshchuk made it to the men's final in this discipline. None of the athletes met the qualifying standard of 2.29 meters.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukrainians Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Iryna Gerashchenko won gold and bronze medals respectively at the 2024 Olympics in the high jump sector.
