Briedis spoke about the fight between Usyk and Opetaia
Australian heavyweight Jai Opetaia (27-0, 21 KOs) will simply destroy Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) in a potential fight. The 29-year-old boxer from Sydney has proven his strength and ability to defeat the Ukrainian super champion with his performances in the professional ring.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Daily Star by former world heavyweight champion Mairis Briedis. According to him, our compatriot should end his career after two victories over Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs). In addition, there is no point in Usyk dropping down in weight if he decides to continue fighting.
"If I were Usyk, I would have left undefeated and not returned to the heavyweight division. The problem is that he gained weight over time. Returning to the heavyweight division would require him to lose those extra pounds, which is a lot of stress for the body. I think that if Usyk returns to cruiserweight and fights Opetaia, the Australian will tear him apart – not just beat him, but completely destroy him. Because losing weight will undermine Usyk's strength. That's why I'm sure Opetaia will beat Usyk," Briedis said.
