"The best in the world": ex-champion named the clear favorite of the Usyk-Fury fight

Bellew praised the Usyk-Fury fight

Former world heavyweight champion Tony Bellew believes Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) is too strong an opponent for Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs). According to the British ex-boxer, there is not a single fighter who could defeat the Ukrainian today.

Bellew said this in an interview on the Matchroom Boxing YouTube channel, Boxing Social reports. The former rival of Usyk, who knocked out Tony in November 2018, emphasized that the change of coach did not benefit Fury and his current style would be useless in a fight against our compatriot.

"I don't think anyone can beat Oleksandr Usyk. I said that many months ago. The crazy thing is that when Fury was working with his uncle, I think he would have won, but his style has changed and now he's an aggressive counter-puncher and that won't work against Usyk. I think he has a chance for one punch now, but to be honest, he's not a serious puncher. Fury is a brilliant fighter, let's not forget that and remember what he did for the heavyweight division, it's amazing, but I think Oleksandr Usyk is the best heavyweight in the world," Bellew said.

The Usyk-Fury fight was scheduled for February 17, but the Gypsy King suffered a cut during a sparring session two weeks before the show, and it was postponed to May 18. Later, the main reasons why Tyson would not be able to refuse to enter the ring against the Ukrainian again were named.

Oleksandr's team named a boxer who would replace Fury if he refused to enter the ring. In the updated contract for the fight, the rivals were charged a multi-million dollar fine.

Bookmakers reacted unexpectedly to the postponement of the Usyk-Fury fight, changing one of the quotes on its outcome. Two conditions were also revealed that the Ukrainian demanded to fulfill when he agreed to postpone his return to the ring on February 17. In addition, the media announced Tyson and Oleksandr's fees for the show.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk shared Oleksandr Usyk's plans after he fights Tyson Fury. In addition, it became known that the Briton had returned to training.

And the World Boxing Council (WBC) is preparing a revolutionary decision on the fight. For his part, former welterweight champion Steve Cunningham gave an unexpected reason why Usyk will beat Fury.
