Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) defeated Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) to become the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the four-belt era. Our compatriot was stronger, which was recorded by the judges with a split decision - 115:112, 113:114, 114:113.
A new video of the most spectacular part of the fight was posted on Supreme Boxing's Instagram page. In the second half of the ninth round, Usyk hit his opponent with a left body kick, after which he flew to the ropes.
The Ukrainian attacked Fury and began to deliver a series of a huge number of punches. Tyson tried to run away from our boxer, but still got hit with a few more accurate hits to the head.
As a result, Usyk drove his opponent into a corner – and he almost went down on the canvas. The referee of the fight, Mark Nelson, intervened and scored Fury a standing knockdown. In the video, you can see all the emotions of the Briton as he survived in the ring.
It is known that Fury has activated the clause on an immediate rematch with the Ukrainian. Bookmakers have already started accepting bets on the fight.
The media reported that Usyk could not be deprived of the title of absolute champion due to a little-known rule. In addition, three reasons were given why it is beneficial for promoters and organizations to keep all the belts for the Ukrainian. At the same time, our boxer's team will appeal to the IBF to make an exception to the mandatory defense.
Former boxer David Haye predicted that there will be no rematch between the Ukrainian and Fury. His compatriot Dereck Chisora started rumors that Oleksandr would return to the heavyweight division.
