Maksym InshakovNews
The incident occurred during a May Day demonstration

In the French capital, demonstrators protesting against the 2024 Olympics and pro-Palestinian activists burned Olympic rings made of cardboard. The May 1 demonstration was originally timed to coincide with Labor Day, but then it escalated into mass protests.

It should be noted that the riots took place not only in Paris. In Nantes and Lyon, protesters tried to attack administrative buildings.

Police carried out mass arrests. In Saint-Etienne, a member of the European Parliament was pelted with eggs.

The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The Russian national swimming team will not compete at the 2024 Olympic Games. And the team's head coach, Sergei Chepik, called the Olympics a tournament of "NATO countries and their minions." Representatives of the Russian national fencing team will also not participate in the 2024 Olympic Games.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the leaders of France and the United Kingdom Emmanuel Macron and Rishi Sunak agreed to intensify efforts to bring Russia's defeat closer. In addition, they agreed to coordinate the strengthening of military support for Ukraine.

Macron also said that if the US does not provide new funding to Ukraine, Europe will need to "mobilize" to support the country. The European Union may have to provide Kyiv with more than €50 billion approved under the Ukraine Facility program.
