Ngannou said who will win the Usyk-Fury fight
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champion Francis Ngannou (0-1, 0 KOs) made his prediction for the fight between WBA, WBO, IBO, IBF titlist Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34) -0-1, 24 KOs). According to the Cameroonian Frenchman, Fury will win this fight.
"If I am objective, I will say that Tyson will win. On my own behalf, I will still say Fury. Of course, I'm not discounting Usyk. I know he can win this fight. He has a good chance, maybe even a very good chance. But I still pick Tyson. I still want him to win so that I can meet him in a rematch," boxing-social.com quoted the 37-year-old fighter as saying.
On October 29 last year, Ngannou made his professional boxing debut in a fight with Tyson Fury. The 10-round boxing match in Riyadh ended with a split decision of 94:95, 96:93, 95:94, with Tyson getting knocked down in the 3rd round.
On February 17, 2024, Usyk will fight Tyson Fury for the absolute heavyweight championship. At stake will be the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles. This will be the first battle in the history of the four-belt era.
On January 25, it became known that the Usyk-Fury fight faced a serious problem.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the winner of the historic fight for the absolute heavyweight title between Fury and Usyk will receive a special new belt.
Former cruiserweight world champion and now boxing analyst Johnny Nelson has suggested that this fight between the British and Ukrainian will not take place.
Earlier this evening was scheduled for December 23, but Tyson Fury was cut during his fight with Francis Ngannou and the fight was postponed. Before that, Oleksandr Usyk fought Daniel Dubois, where he won by knockout.
The last absolute champion in heavyweight was Lennox Lewis - in 1999, he held the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts, which was enough for such a title.
Former world champion in four weight categories Roy Jones Jr. expressed confidence that Oleksandr will face his main problem in the fight with Tyson - the lack of a powerful knockout punch.
On January 1, the BETSiE supercomputer, which predicted the outcomes of the most important sporting events of 2024, named the winner of the Usyk-Fury mega-fight.
