The unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) will receive an impressive guaranteed fee for his fight against Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs). However, the Gypsy King, as the British boxer is called, will earn twice as much as our compatriot.
This became known thanks to a leak in the Boxing Kingdom community, The Sun reports. Our compatriot will receive a check for 27 million pounds ($34 million) for the first fight with Fury. This is slightly less than the record earnings Oleksandr received for his rematch with Anthony Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs).
At the same time, Tyson's account will be replenished by an impressive 55 million pounds (69 million dollars). This fee will be the highest in his career for the Gypsy King.
Interestingly, Joshua will earn 38 million in British currency ($48 million) for the fight with Francis Ngannou (0-1, 0 KOs), which will take place on March 8. In turn, the Cameroonian will receive 16 million ($20 million).
We would like to remind you that initially the Usyk – Fury fight was supposed to take place on February 17, but the Gypsy King was injured during sparring two weeks before the show. Tyson apologized for his injury, and a video of the incident was posted online. The Briton also made a statement about his retirement.
When asked about the fake nature of the injury, Usyk criticized the Gypsy King. In addition, the fans reacted angrily to the situation.
The incident was also commented on by Croatian boxer Agron Smakic (20-2, 18 KOs), who dealt Fury the ill-fated blow. But ex-champion Carl Froch called the British fighter's injury suspicious.
At the same time, the Ukrainian named the person responsible for postponing the show, without blaming his opponent for it. The Gypsy King later revealed the details of how he got the injury. The organizers of the show in Riyadh announced a new date for the Usyk – Fury fight, setting a "draconian condition" for the boxers.
Later, the Briton attacked our compatriot with insults. And the famous Briton Dereck Chisora told how the fight would end. In his turn, the legendary Roy Jones called Okeksandr a victim of the disruption of the fight on February 17.
