"Master class in retirement": Russian heavyweight dreams of ridding boxing of Usyk
A little-known Russian boxer, Artem Suslenkov (12-0, 7 KOs), decided to promote himself on behalf of unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs). The 29-year-old athlete from Volgograd made a phenomenal claim that he was ready to fight the Ukrainian and end his career.
He said this in an interview with Championship.com. The Russian heavyweight, who has no achievements behind him, expressed confidence that our compatriot does not show anything unusual in the ring, pretending that Usyk did not beat Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs).
"How to beat Usyk? Nothing supernatural is required. I'm ready to come out and show you! To hold a master class on the retirement of the famous and beloved Usyk. The victory of Yegor Mekhontsev was painful for him, and then he never lost to the Russian again. This will be my role in the boxing world. But I have a fight for the IBF Europe belt against Jack Mulovaya ahead of me. All my focus is on the fight on January 31 in Moscow," Suslenkov said.
Suslenkov started his professional career in 2018 and has not had a single championship fight since then. Usyk, on the other hand, has already collected all the belts in two weight categories.
Earlier, an ESPN journalist predicted that Usyk would retire in 2025. At the same time, the Ukrainian boxer has already decided on his opponent and named the weight category.
Manager Aegis Klimas told us when Oleksandr plans to return to the ring. Artificial intelligence has already made a prediction for the Ukrainian's fight.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, promoter Frank Warren sees no prerequisites for Oleksandr Usyk to change weight category.
