"Made it dangerous." It became known what really happened in the Klitschko - Joshua fight

Maksym InshakovNews

Commenting on Anthony Joshua's (27-3, 24 KOs) readiness to fight former UFC champion Francis Ngannou (0-1, 0 KOs), Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn recalled the British boxer's fight with Wladimir Klitschko. The promoter admitted that Joshua didn't really know what he was doing in the fight with the Ukrainian.

"He was a pretty naive AJ, which made him very dangerous, but at that stage, he just had strength and heart. And good fundamentals," sportingnews.com quoted Hearn as saying.

Eddie noted that now his ward is a more versatile fighter.

"His defense is much better than it was then. His footwork is a lot better than it was then, but that's what made him interesting back then because he was still young... not a rookie, but he was very, very inexperienced," Hearn summarized.

As a reminder, Anthony Joshua knocked out Wladimir Klitschko in London on April 29, 2017. The Ukrainian boxer was defeated by technical knockout in the 11th round. It was Wladimir's first time in the ring 17 months after his sensational defeat by Tyson Fury.

4 years after the fight, Joshua told us for the first time what happened in the fight with Wladimir.

As OBOZ.UA reported, the Joshua-Ngannou fight will take place in Saudi Arabia. The fight will take place at the Kingdom Arena stadium. The rivals will enter the ring no earlier than 00:30 on Saturday, March 9, Kyiv time. OBOZ.UA will provide an online broadcast of the Joshua-Ngannou fight.
