Lisovyi reacts sharply to the map of Ukraine without Crimea: the issue of textbook quality will be resolved once and for all

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi reacted to the scandal with the map of our country without Crimea in Ukrainian language textbooks for the 7th grade. He said that the publisher, who made the design mistake, would correct the technical error at its own expense.

Lisovyi wrote about this on Facebook, emphasizing that Crimea is Ukraine. He noted that the Ministry of Education has questions about the quality of school textbooks.

They are related to the activities of the Institute for the Modernization of Educational Content and are not the first time they have been raised.

"Starting September 2, 2024, the Ukrainian Institute for Educational Development (UIED) will provide expertise by the decision of the Ministry. In 2025-2026, the Ministry of Education and Science is completing the reorganization of the Institute for the Modernization of Educational Content. This is to resolve the issue of textbook quality once and for all," said Lisovyi.

As a reminder, a map of Ukraine without Crimea was found in 7th grade Ukrainian language textbooks by Anastasia Onatiy and Taras Tkachuk.

The author of the textbook explained that image stocks began to post "convenient" maps of Ukraine with two versions of images - with and without Crimea. The expert also called on teachers to launch a flash mob "Draw Crimea".

Later, the publishing house "Litera LTD", which published these textbooks, announced that it recognized its mistake in the situation with the map of Ukraine. They are recalling the textbooks and will publish a corrected edition at their own expense.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukrainian teachers who work offline in Zaporizhzhia schools will be able to receive additional payments. The city authorities have developed a grant model of financial incentives for teachers.
