Oksen Lisovoy
Oksen Vasilyevich Lisovoy is the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, a Ukrainian scientist, director of the National Center "Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine", a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Brief biography
Oksen Lisovoy was born on July 21, 1972 in Kiev region in the family of dissident, philosopher and human rights activist Vasyl Lisovoy and teacher Vera Lisovoy-Grytsenko.
In 1981, he was forced to spend the summer in Novaya Bryana (Buryat ASSR), where the Soviet authorities were trying his father, who was in exile. Vera Lisova acted as defense counsel for her husband during this time. Since the summer of 1982, the family lived in exile for two years in Buryatia, where his father worked as a turner. At this time, his older sister Oxena graduated from high school, and he himself graduated from the 3rd and 4th grades.
Subsequently, he graduated from the Reshetilov Art School of Folk Crafts, specializing as a ceramic artist. He also studied at the Kiev State Institute of Culture, where he received a diploma in library and information systems.
At one time he worked as a teacher at the Kyiv Mohyla Collegium, as well as a fencing coach.
In 2010, he was appointed director of the National Center "Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine".
In 2020 Lisovoy co-initiated the establishment of the first Science Museum in Ukraine.
He is the author of more than 250 scientific publications and 25 authored publications.
Appointment as Minister
On March 21, 2023, Lisovoy was appointed Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
War in Ukraine
In February 2022, with the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Lisovoy went to volunteer at the front. He is defending Ukraine as part of the 95th Independent Airborne Assault Brigade.
At the same time, he continues to serve remotely as director of the IAS Ukraine.

Family
Oksen Lisovoy is married. Raises two sons.
