ITF has made an official decision on the admission of Russians and Belarusians to the Olympic Games in Paris

The 2024 Olympics will be held in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, 2024

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has authorized athletes with Russian and Belarusian passports to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris as individual neutral athletes ("AIN") and in the Paralympic Games as neutral Paralympic athletes ("NPA"). The Olympic tennis tournament will be open to athletes who have qualified.

In order to participate in the 2024 Games, tennis players from the Russian Federation and Belarus must comply with the IOC AIN principles and the IPC NPA principles. Neutral athletes will have to meet the selection and eligibility requirements set out in the applicable ITF rules.

"The ITF's decision is in line with the majority of International Federations (IFs) for individual events and athletes participating in the 2024 Games in Paris this summer. The ITF's position is also consistent with the existing international tennis policy adopted in March 2022," the ITF press service said in a statement.

The 2024 Olympics will be held in the French capital from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Russian athletes will compete there, and they will be able to obtain neutral status.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, Ukraine's third ranked player Marta Kostiuk (WTA No. 32) said that the Russian tennis players she played with on the tour behaved very proudly despite their neutral status. According to the 21-year-old from Kyiv, it was very difficult to play against Russians at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

On January 18, it became known that athletes from Russia and Belarus, who received Olympic licenses to compete at this year's Paris Games, will be re-checked for compliance with the conditions of admission to the tournament. It will be conducted with the participation of unnamed independent organizations.
