"I will be shocked": Usyk warned that he could make a terrible mistake

Famous pugilist Russ Anber has warned world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) against returning to the heavyweight division. According to a member of our compatriot's team, such a decision will not give the boxer any benefit and will also negatively affect his legacy.

Anber said this in an interview with the Boxing King Media YouTube channel. The American specialist emphasized that in the past, many boxing stars returned from the super heavyweight division to the heavyweight division, but did not achieve any success there. Russ also added that Usyk's health would also be at risk.

"If Oleksandr decides to change weight, I will be shocked by this act. He dominates the heavyweights, why would he go back to cruiserweight... I often think about my friends who tried to go back to the lower categories - they all failed. Usyk is not just a fat guy who gained weight. He worked on himself purposefully. I hope and pray that Usyk doesn't go back to a lower weight class," said Anber.

Earlier, Usyk himself expressed a desire to return to cruiserweight, where he was the absolute world champion. This information was also confirmed by Alexander Gvozdik.

After winning a rematch against Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs), Usyk has already accepted the challenge of another Briton, Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), whom he defeated in 2023.
