Klychko assessed the confrontation between Usyk and Fury

The legendary Vitaliy Klychko called the fight between Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) very important for the whole of Ukraine. The mayor of Kyiv also added that sports and politics are very different from each other, as athletes follow the rules and breaking them is punishable.

Klychko Sr. said this in an interview with the British newspaper Daily Express. The undisputed champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC) emphasized that the fight between Fury and Usyk is eagerly awaited around the world, as the opponents have different styles, which generates additional interest.

"Everyone is expecting a very dramatic and interesting fight, but no one in the world can predict the outcome. It's a super heavyweight, every punch can be decisive. This fight is for the whole of Ukraine. To be honest, being a world heavyweight champion is much easier than being a politician. Because in boxing, in sports, there are clear rules, and if you break them, you are disqualified. In politics, it's a difficult struggle, but in sports we always have clear rules," Klychko said. Before that, Vitaliy gave an original advice to the Gypsy King.

As a reminder, Usyk and Fury were supposed to fight on February 17, but due to Tyson's autopsy, the fight was postponed to May 18. The day before, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) made a statement about the rematch between the Ukrainian and the British. The former rival of the two boxers, Derek Chisora (34-14, 23 KOs), gave his categorical forecast for the fight.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, Tyson Fury's father John sharply attacked Oleksandr Usyk's team representatives after they questioned the British boxer's injury. And Croatian heavyweight Agron Smakic (20-2, 18 KOs) told the whole truth about what happened in the British fighter's camp.
