Ukraine has received 150 million euros, transferred to the state budget by the European Union. The money will be used to pay for meals for primary school children, support farmers, and restore ports and other critical facilities.

This was reported by the Ministry of Finance. The aid is allocated on a grant basis, which means it is non-refundable.

This is the second tranche under the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on financing the Support for Ukraine's Early Recovery program (State Development and Resilience Contract). The funds of the second tranche will be used to:

  • providing free meals for children in grades 1-4 – EUR 65 million;
  • restoration of port infrastructure – EUR 50 million;
  • support for uninterrupted agricultural production and access to finance for agricultural producers – EUR 20 million;
  • restoration of critical facilities affected by Russia's armed aggression, including transport infrastructure, critical and municipal facilities, utilities, social infrastructure, and residential premises – EUR 15 million.

The total value of the contract is EUR 300 million. Ukraine received the first tranche of €150 million in December 2023.

"The funds will be used to provide free school meals, support critical infrastructure, food security, and reconstruction projects that are vital for Ukraine's recovery. Amidst the war, the Government of Ukraine continues to support recovery efforts to ensure comfortable living conditions for Ukrainians, support businesses, and, as a result, the recovery of Ukraine's economy. I am grateful to the EU countries and institutions for their systematic support in all possible directions," said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko.

OBOZ.UA also reported that on December 23, Ukraine received the seventh tranche (based on the results of the sixth review) from the International Monetary Fund under the record-breaking EFF (Extended Fund Facility) program totaling $15.6 billion. The next tranche amounted to USD 1.1 billion, which will be used to support the state budget.
